Introduction
TransCultureTek is an umbrella group of research staff and staff members with an interest in promoting postgraduate research in and around the area of new media. It represents a combination of interests within the fields of art, new media, design and education.

Researchers come from a diversity of professional and academic backgrounds such as art and design history, visual and material culture, multimedia & new media technologies, educational technology, and 3D visualisation/animation. There is therefore a range of expertise enabling support for a wide spectrum of postgraduate projects within the area of contemporary art practice, new media, and interactive media technologies focused on communication in education, art & design and entertainment.

Transculturetek’s key objective is to support those who have not traditionally progressed to postgraduate courses gain access to Masters and PhD programmes through flexible postgraduate degrees centred on the knowledge and interests of the research student. Programmes of study are determined by the applicant's research proposal and may follow a traditional academic route or take the form of practice based research more recently evidenced in art and design research.
